Hi Ishmael! Could you please introduce yourself?
I am Ishmael Abraham Armah, a Physical Educator and basic school teacher in Takoradi. I am the founder of NK Foundation, a registered NGO in Ghana that uses table tennis as a tool to engage school children as they learn through play. Equipment (tables, balls, bats etc) and logistics are provided by PSF and NK Foundation in partnership with Asoba Foundation that is currently running Edudrive TT program in selected schools in Ghana.
What is your role within PSF?
In partnership with PSF, I oversee the running of the edudrive tt project in schools, organize tt competitions/ programs for PSF kids in Ghana. I am also the Country representative for PSF.
I also oversee our social business TAKO by PSF that offers ping-pong tables 100% made in Ghana but also training sessions in local schools. These tables built in Ghana will not only be an answer to finding locally built tables but will also serves as remuneration to the local artisans.
What are your plans in the future?
My plans are to role out table tennis programs in Ghana through schools and communities to foster development as they are anchored in the values of PSF.
What similar values do you share with PSF?
NK Foundation shares similar values with PSF. We believe that sports have values that are worth transferrable to people in an organised environment. As such running an educative table tennis program in schools where children are taught how to play table tennis and encouraged to take their academics seriously.
